Ten explosions were heard near Srinagar International Airport in India-controlled Kashmir, officials said. It comes after a number of other blasts were heard across the region on Friday.

Multiple projectiles were seen in the sky above Jammu while explosions were heard in the city of Amritsar. The Indian military said it was shooting down drones and accused Pakistan of using civilian aircraft as shields.

An Indian military official told Reuters that drones "are being engaged" which is endangering the lives of civilians. A number of Indian cities were targeted by attacks on Thursday night as tensions between Delhi and Islamabad grow.

Fears of a wider conflict are now growing, with a military expert telling the Express that the situation between India and Pakistan could lead to a "potential WW3 scenario". Nicholas Drummond said the involvement of China could dangerously escalate the conflict.

India carried out a number of missile strikes in Pakistan on Wednesday morning. They also targeted Pakistan-administered parts of the disputed Kashmir region.

On Friday, the Indian Premier League, the nation's top cricket tournament, was suspended due to rising tensions. They have been suggestions that it could be moved to the UK for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, the equivalent Pakistan Super League was moved to the United Arab Emirates.

New Delhi has accused Pakistan of carrying out a terror attack which killed 26 people, including 25 Indians and one Nepali national, in the resort town of Pahalgam on April 22. It was the first major attack on civilians since India revoked Article 370 in 2019, which gave Kashmir semi-autonomous status.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his nation would hunt the suspects "till the ends of the Earth". However, Pakistan has denied being behind the attack.

Around 48 people are reported to have been killed on both sides since Wednesday. A number of others have been seriously injured in missile and drone strikes.
