The body of a woman has been found at an outdoor pool in Bilston, Wolverhampton.
The remains were found at around 9am on Friday, May 9, after police officers were called to the pool off Prouds Lane.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene, but nothing could be done to save the woman, who was pronounced dead shortly after she was found, Birmingham Live reports.
West Midlands Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and has made an appeal for public information as officers try to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
"The body of a woman was found in a pool off Prouds Lane, Bilston, at around 9am," a spokesperson said. "We attended along with the fire service and paramedics, but the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."
"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained as we continue enquiries to establish what has happened. Anyone with information can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log 802 of May 9."
