Dylan Llewellyn is best recognised for his role in the BBC’s hit crime drama Beyond Paradise as the eager-to-impress PC Kelby Hartford. Alongside the team at Shipton Abbott and his superior, DI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall), they take on the town’s multitude of murder mysteries.

However, to take on the role, the actor who previously starred in Derry Girls and Hollyoaks had to perfect his accent. Hailing from Surrey, Llewellyn revealed he took on training to perfect the tone; however, instead of a trained coach, his co-star showed him the ropes. Praising the DS Esther Williams star, he stated: “Well, Zahra's my voice coach because she's from there.”

During a joint interview with his co-star on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Llewellyn highlighted that Zahra Ahmadi is from Plymouth, so her character’s accent came naturally.

She told hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer: “He doesn't need a voice coach, his accent is so good. I'm not just saying that, I told [Dylan] that when we were filming.”

Ahmadi shared her experience: “Obviously, I just leant into mine a little bit. But his is great, honestly.”

The actress also helped her other co-stars perfect their accents, including Felicity Montagu, who plays Margot Martins.

In a previous interview with the Daily Express, Montagu recalled: “I thought we had a dialect coach but actually, our dialect coach was Zahra.

“The way that Zahra talks, you never take offence because she has this wonderful matter-of-fact way of speaking to you that is totally respectful and totally kind and gracious.

“And she put me right, if it wasn't quite right she'd put you right and say 'say the line again’.

The actress added: “You never took offence and it was fantastic.”

Llewelleyn who was also in the conversation said: “She was on it, she was always listening out. She was very complimentary of us and was very encouraging.”
