In a shocking discovery, two deceased dogs were found abandoned in a Black Country lay-by, prompting an urgent appeal from an animal charity to find the person responsible. The tragic scene unfolded when a passerby came across the bodies of a dachshund and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in a lay-by off Moseley Road near Wolverhampton, just off the A460 Cannock Road, on the grim Wednesday morning of April 16.

It is believed that the poor animals had been left at the spot for about a week before their discovery. One of the dogs was lying on the grass verge, while the other was callously placed in a bag and hung on a barbed wire fence. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has stepped in to handle the case and is now urging anyone with information to come forward, reports Birmingham Live.

Despite being microchipped, the details linked to the chips were outdated, adding another layer of difficulty to the investigation. RSPCA animal rescue officer Katey Freckelton expressed her sorrow: "Both dogs were sadly already dead when they were found. One on the grass and the other in a bag hung up on a barbed wire fence."

She highlighted the disturbing nature of the incident, saying, "It's incredibly sad that these dogs were dumped in this way and suspicious that their remains have been found in the location." Freckelton also noted the issue with the microchips: "The dogs both had microchips but the information wasn't up to date."

She confirmed the date of the grim find: "They were discovered on April 16 and taken straight to a vet, although the person who found them thinks they may have been there for around a week before they were found.
