The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather alert for rain, warning rainfall, at times heavy, may bring travel disruption ahead of Easter. The alert, announced during the morning of April 18, will be in place from 2pm on Good Friday to 3pm on Saturday, April 19.
The weather warning is focused on two areas in Northern Ireland, County Antrim and County Down, and it reads: "A prolonged spell of rain, some of it heavy, will likely cause difficult driving conditions and some disruption to travel." The weather forecaster warned these areas could be hit by 20 to 40mm of rain, with build-ups of 50 to 70mm to be expected over some higher ground.
