Kim Jong-un’s sister has issued a chilling statement on North Korea’s nuclear power. Kim Yo-jong, a politician and close advisor of the North Korean despot, sent a warning on Wednesday that any attempts to remove the country’s nuclear weapons is a “daydream”, insisting they are permanent. Last week, diplomats from the United States, South Korea and Japan released an update following a NATO meeting in which they “reaffirmed their resolute commitment to the complete denuclearisation”.

However, the statement was met with defiance from Kim, warning that any discussion of denuclearisation calls for “the most hostile act”. The politician also claimed the external talks on the matter equated to the denial of North Korea’s sovereignty and that nuclear weapon expansion was part of the country’s constitution.

Speaking to local media, she said: “It only fully exposed the uneasiness of the US, Japan and the ROK [Republic of Korea], in a desperate plight of having to talk about denuclearisation in chorus.

“If the US and its vassal forces continue to insist on anachronistic denuclearisation… it will only give unlimited justness and justification to the advance of the DPRK [North Korea] aspiring after the building of the strongest nuclear force for self-defence.”

Kim, described as the world's "most dangerous woman" by author Sung-Yoon Lee, added that her country’s nuclear power status can “never be reversed”, in a horrifying warning to the US-led efforts.

The diplomat’s statement comes after her comments in March, condemning the US over an American Navy aircraft carrier stopping at the South Korean port of Busan. She accused the US government of “carrying forward the former administration’s hostile policy”.

It is reported that Kim is currently ignoring calls by Washington and Seoul to continue with denuclearisation discussions. The politician is also yet to respond to Donald Trump after he said he would reach out to revive diplomacy. During the president’s first term, the pair met three times.

However, their diplomacy collapsed over disagreements about the US ending sanctions in return for the winding down of North Korea's nuclear programmes.

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, North Korea started providing Vladimir Putin with troops, also sending weapons to boost the Russian line. Seoul has raised concerns that Kim may, in exchange, receive advanced technology and economic help from President Putin.
