Passengers who are jetting off to Turkey any time soon have been asked to check before they travel. It comes as airline easyJet issued a message to all holidaymakers about what you need to get sorted before going to the airport.

Sometimes you may need more than just a passport or ID card to go through border security and continue on your journey or holiday. The rules do sometimes change depending on where you're going - and it's best to be certain rather than assume every airport is exactly the same.

Passengers with easyJet have been urged to know exactly what documents they'll need to bring when travelling to Turkey. The update states: "Before you fly to Turkey please check that your passport is valid and meets the entry requirements shown on the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or check your local consular advice, such as the FCDO website.

"Visas are not usually required for most EU Citizens or British Passport holders for tourist stays of less than 90 days in any 180 day period. However, there are exceptions such as service passport holders, or British Overseas Citizens, so please check up to date advice before you travel."

On top of document checks, extra security measures are currently being applied to flights from Turkey - as well as Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco and Egypt to the UK, according to easyJet. These extra checks will be conducted at the gate prior to boarding.

There is no requirement to come to the airport earlier than shown on your confirmation email. But airline bosses do advise you to make sure to arrive at the gate as soon as your gate is announced.

Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
