Gogglebox star Dave was flooded with support as he announced his retirement from his role as a factory worker after an impressive 42 years. Posing outside of the building with his colleagues, Dave was seen beaming as he shared the happy news with his X, formerly known as Twitter followers. He penned: "Saying goodbye to friends at work after 42years time to call it a day thanks everyone xxx," and unsurprisingly, he was soon flooded with messages of support.
One fan penned: "Happy new chapter- plenty of fun adventures ahead!" and another agreed: "Happy retirement Dave, relax, have fun, enjoy." However, some were left panicking that he was retiring from the show, as one asked: "God, you’re not retiring from gogglebox are you??" to which Dave replied: "No I'm retiring from work." A fourth fan added: "Happy retirement dave please no retiring yet with gogglebox." Another asked: "How do you plan to use your days Dave?" to which he responded: "Shirley will keep me busy."
Dave and Shirley, hailing from Caerphilly, are known for their engaging Instagram presence, and are always quick to share their support to their castmates. In a recent display of solidarity, Dave and Shirley from Wales have rallied behind fellow star Tom Malone from Manchester.
After suffering an arm injury, Tom Malone, part of the familiar Malone family from Manchester, shared his hospital ordeal on Instagram with a humorous anecdote: "Woke up with a nappy as a dressing, was caught off guard when the nurse said she had to change my nappy! Grateful to our NHS, top notch care thank you, home now! ! ! !".
The Malones warmly responded to the gesture from Dave and Shirley with appreciative words: "Thank you xxx he's well topped up on pain killers" along with a chuckle-inducing emoji. A
Since joining in the sixth series, Shirley and Dave quickly endeared themselves to viewers, becoming fan favourites. The Malones, who joined in the fourth series, are equally cherished for their relatable dynamic and beloved canine companions.
