Parts of the UK will become wet and windy over a period of four days, as maps show the areas that will be hit by bad weather. Much of the UK has experienced bright and sunny weather as of late, but that is set to change for some as rain and wind arrive. Forecasts say that conditions will change from next weekend, and weather in parts of the country will be unfavourable up until Tuesday, May 27 and potentially beyond.

The Met Office says that there is "an increasing chance that conditions will turn more unsettled from late next week" and that "areas of rain and strengthening winds threaten from the west and/or south". The Met Office adds: "This would most likely to be accompanied by temperatures dropping nearer to average for the time of year."

WXCHARTS maps show the areas of the UK where rain and winds will be present. On Saturday, May 24, portions of the south coast and channel islands will experience winds between 62 and 89 kilometres per hour, while winds will be between 60 and 75 kilometres per hour along the western half of the south coast.

Meanwhile, much of the West Country and Wales will be hit with rain next weekend, as will parts of the South-east of the UK, including London. Parts of Scotland and the North-west of England will also experience heavy rainfall next weekend.

While some areas will be hit with heavier rainfall than others, almost the entirety of the UK looks to be wet in some capacity next weekend.

Rain and winds will continue for much of the UK in the days to come. The western part of Scotland, as well as some of northwestern England, will be hit the hardest. Maps show that these areas, in particular, will receive as much as 55 millimetres of rain on Tuesday, May 27.

The rest of the country looks to be hot with some rainfall on that day, but the Met Office says that conditions will begin to clear after that. The forecast says: "The start of the period may see some more in the way of rain and showers across, especially across western parts. Fine and dry weather is more likely to prevail towards the south and east and may start to develop more widely, but occasional spells of rain and showers are still possible, with potential for thunderstorms on some days."
