Diana, Princess of Wales's brother will make a surprise TV appearance later this week to talk about men’s mental health. Charles, Earl Spencer, 60, will appear on Thursday's episode of ITV’s Loose Men for an important discussion.

He will be joined on the panel by Craig Doyle, Sam Thompson and Dr Amir Khan as they look at a variety of issues connected to male mental and physical health. Interestingly, this will not be the first time the Earl has spoken openly about his mental health.

The show will be available to watch on May 15 at 12.30pm on ITV.

Last year, Diana, Princess of Wales's brother spoke to the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg about the trauma he experienced when he was sent to boarding school at the age of eight and experienced abuse.

Charles said he needed residential treatment for mental health to deal with trauma after writing about these experiences in his book last year.

In 2020, Charles also spoke about how he had been having therapy for a significant portion of his life to get over his unhappy childhood.

He told The Sunday Times in 2020: “I’ve been in and out of therapy for 20 years. I did a lot of very profound work on my unhappy childhood last year, which was agonising and horrible.

“I don’t say that out of self-pity, it was intriguing to me that it was so desperately unpleasant.

“But the result has been cathartic. Coming out the other side has been good.”
