The UK simply cannot cope with this level of immigration — our housing market, healthcare system, and prison infrastructure are all buckling under the strain. At the start of the pandemic, the NHS backlog for consultant-led elective care was at 4.6 million. Now, that number stands strong at 7.46 million.
Prison capacity is similarly overwhelmed. Facilities in England and Wales are at 98% capacity, forcing the early release of hardened criminals. If you fail to see the link between immigration and the massive strains on our infrastructure, economy, and society, you are ignorant of the facts.
Labour’s various proposals to halt illegal migration have been nothing more than publicity stunts aimed at winning back disillusioned voters. This was evident today, when Starmer announced a plan to reduce migration — but refused to set a cap on the number of immigrants allowed in, knowing full well they would exceed it.
At no point in his address did he explain how he intends to secure our borders. The Home Office has admitted that net migration will still be running at over half a million by 2028. Their bogus strategy is a response to our growing success in the polls, but it is doomed to fail. Only Reform UK is tackling this crisis head on.
Our solution is straightforward — and essential for national security, prosperity, and growth. We must limit our work and school visas. We must thoroughly vet asylum seekers. We must ensure that anyone moving here is assimilating, speaking our language, and respecting our way of life.
We must shift our focus away from the detention and processing of illegal migrants and instead prioritise deterrence and deportation. We will appoint a Minister for Deportations to oversee this process, ensuring it is carried out efficiently, effectively, and without placing an undue burden on the taxpayer.
Our pledge to you, as stated in our contract, is to: freeze all non-essential immigration, slash net zero to lower energy bills, lift the income tax starting threshold, and reform the NHS. In doing so, we will restore Britain to its former glory — a free, prosperous, and independent nation.
