The Metropolitan Police are investigating after a fire reportedly broke out at the Prime Minister's personal home in North London this morning.

The force say that police were alerted by the London fire brigade at 01:35 in the morning "at a residential address" in NW5.

The address is understood to be the family home of Keir Starmer, where he lived with his wife and children before moving into No.10 Downing Street after his election victory last week.

A cordon is now in place shutting down the whole street in Islington.

The Met continued: "Officers attended the scene. Damage was caused to the property's entrance, nobody was hurt."

"The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue."

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "The Brigade was called at 0111 and the fire was under control by 0133."

"Two fire engines from Kentish Town Fire Station attended the scene."

It is understood that the PM's front door was damaged though no one was hurt.

A call for further information has now gone out from the police, with anyone who may know something asked to call the Met on 101 quoting CAD 441/12 May.
